Roman myths

We studied a few Roman myths this week and re-enacted them out in class – this really helps deepen our understanding of the characters and how they might have been feeling.

The two myths we looked at were Romulus and Remus – the brothers who reportedly fought over who should be the first king of Rome. Here you can see Romulus in the process of killing his brother in order to gain control of the new founded city.

And Orpheus and Eurydice (which was a myth the Romans completely stole from the Greeks).

Here we can see Eurydice lying dead, having just been bitten by a snake. Orpheus is stricken with guilt (you can see by the look on his face!!)

Here (in another version) Orpheus is trying to make a deal with Hades in order for him to set Eurydice free from the Underworld.
